I am trying to install Ubuntu 22.04 LTS using a bootable USB (official ISO), but I am running into a strange issue. After selecting “Install Ubuntu,” the installer loads to the “Preparing to install Ubuntu” screen and then just hangs.

The spinning animation keeps running but it never proceeds to the disk partitioning step. I’ve tried both online and offline installations & the problem persists.

I have already tried switching versions (e.g., 20.04), used different USB creation tools (Rufus, BalenaEtcher) & even disabled Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS. The machine is a ThinkPad X230 which used to run Ubuntu fine in the past.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a workaround, like launching the installer manually or skipping this screen? I’d really appreciate any help I am stuck at this point and can’t proceed with the install.
Thank you !!
