Role summary

Canonical's OEM Mainstream Systems Team works with OEM and ODM customers to pre load
Ubuntu, bringing Ubuntu directly to millions of users. As a Software Engineer you will be
responsible for technical aspects of ensuring that Ubuntu functions well on preloaded systems. This fast-paced environment requires strong debugging and problem-solving skills and a deep
knowledge of the Linux ecosystem.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Debug and customize a wide range of software components in Ubuntu
Work closely with project managers and QA engineers to identify, triage, and fix critical system-level problems
Provide engineering support for OEM and ODM customers and Field Engineers
Work with individual upstream projects to find and apply patches for bugs affecting
OEM/ODM customers; champion locally-developed patches for inclusion in the upstream
package
Some international travel required. Must be able to travel to the USA, China, and Taiwan

Required skills and experience

Strong working knowledge of the Linux software ecosystem, especially system-level
components like the Linux kernel, dbus, pulseaudio, and X11
Experience with C, C++, Python, shell
Experience with open-source development tools such as GCC, GNU Make, and Autotools
Familiarity with open-source development tools and methodology, especially those in
common use for Ubuntu and Debian package maintenance, including Debian packaging tools:
APT, dpkg, debhelper, and CDBS
Strong English-language communication skills, especially in online environments such as
mailing lists and IRC
Excellent time-management skills
Ability to be productive in a globally-distributed team through self-discipline and selfmotivation
Desirable skills and experience

Participation in open-source development projects
Experience developing or debugging Linux kernel drivers
Experience developing/debugging BIOS or UEFI implementations
Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese and English

UBUNTU中国现在缺的不是软件工程师，最重要的找到一个强大的营销总监
（必要要有很深的政府背景和强大的公关能力，能拉到UBUNTU的OEM预装订单，以及中低端服务器的装机量。有足够的话语权。）

当然，有这个水准的，工资也是UBUNTU难以提供的。毕竟UBUNTU 对中国的“市场经济”还没有“足够的了解”。

或者与DEEPIN 或 YLMF 尝试一些战略合作，对双方的业绩，行业前景都是有好处的。其实，上述这两家的背景还是值得信赖的。
