In an interview with the Austrian tech site derStandard.at/web Google's Chris DiBona talks about the important role Open Source plays inside of Google. He also goes on to explain why "Android is the Linux desktop dream come true".

Right from the start Open Source has been playing an important role at Google. Nowadays it's used nearly "everywhere" inside the company. From server to the engineering desktops and smartphones as Chris diBona, Googles "Open Source Manager" points out in an interview with derStandard.at. He goes on to talk about Android as the "Linux desktop dream come true" and explains why the release model of Chrome and Android are so fundamentally different.

Android连Linux发行版都算不上，而且所有Linux上使用的图形库都没有使用。唯一使用的只有一个经过大量修改的Linux内核。
真正使用几乎全套Linux套件的移动系统也就只有Maemo, MeeGo, OpenMoko之类的而已。

Android只是盗用了Linux内核而已，除此之外没有任何联系

Android可能会失败的，Google最终会与甲骨文签订密约，要不然放弃类似JVM的虚拟机层，最后会走向Meego的方向，可见Nokia放弃Meego是件多么悲哀的事情。但也不失为一件好事，因为国人对Linux的兴趣越来越大，嵌入式领域可能会给出一个很好的答案。

android和linux真的几乎有毛关系，谷歌早点去开发类似Meego的系统多好，就不会像这样官司缠身了。
而且效率也会高，不会像现在这样，硬件比iphone强，性能比其差。
