xp+sp2下用vmware物理硬盘安装ubuntu7.04，重启无法进入ubuntu，提示x server错误！

具体提示如下：
Failed to start x server (your graphical interface).It is likely that it is not setup correctly.Would you like to view the x server output to diagnose the problem?

系统：cpu Intel P41.7 内存512M

请教高手是什么问题，应如何解决，在线等！

应该是显卡没有配置好，不是说不能启动ubuntu，不信可以按下CTRL+F1看看，可以进入文字界面。

另外楼主最好把问题的内容都一并写出来，快点按yes……

关于显卡配置，有很多文档了，看一下硬件支持区，还有wiki。

郁闷，在vmware里就可以正常进入ubuntu，你等我，我重启机器抄一下“yes”后的信息。

看你如何分区的。如果是新增了分区，而影响，也是有可能的。

我是先用xp安装盘带的PQMagic8.0对一个IDE硬盘下分区D进行分区，分为ext3格式的分区（安装ubuntu）和swap格式的交换分区，然后在xp下用vmware物理硬盘安装的。

应该是vmware虚拟的显卡和你真实的显卡之间的差别太大了。你启动到文本界面（ctrl+alt+F1）后，sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg 试试看。

照你的做，出现一个选单，（好像是显卡类别），我看不懂，不知道具体怎么操作啊。
我的显卡是：Nividia Geforce 2 MX/MX400,具体我应该如何解决啊？？

时问题的解决一法：
点击“yes”;直到出现password提示符后输入密码然后出现一“显示设置”窗口，硬件选项里选择“vesa。。。。。。”（我的为X3100集成显卡），显示器自动选择“LCD.......”,分别率为800*600.

确认。。。。
