Binary package hint: desktop-effects
I ran desktop-effects and had all the nice compiz effects working but the cube and cube rotation. Looking at the compiz settings I found that the cube and rotation effects were enable, but they were not working (even after restarting the PC)
Running this command (as suggested in Ubuntu Forums) fixed the problem:
gconftool-2 --type int --set /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/hsize 4
gconftool-2 --type int --set /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/number_of_desktops 1
