click:
System--> System manager-->software resource
Add source, click ok
After the list had refrushed.
Click:
System-->System manager -->language support
choose Chinese
Click ok
and it will add the chinese support.

install SCIM-PINYIN use synaptic and REBOOT, then u can use scim
