Hello everyone,
I'm new to linux, recently I've just install Ubuntu 6.06 LTS - the Dapper Drake -released in june 2006. I've tried to use System -> Preferences -> SCIM Input Method Setup so that I can input chinese character. I've read some threads, said System -> Administration -> Language Support -> Supported Language (Chinese) needs to be "checked" or supported. After that, System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager -> Reload to download & install the require package.
Since like after that, the SCIM Input Method Setup has added some "Chewing", "Smart Pinyin" & "Generic Table". But when press Ctl + Space, nothing happens.
I've read some threads as well that need to start:
$ scim -d
Please refer to attached screen shot of the results.
It said SCIM failed to launch.
I'm still trying to get this SCIM to work so that I can input chinese characters using pinyin. Any help are appreciated. Thank you.

Unable to use scim
Thank's oneleaf. It worked. I can input chinese characters in openoffice & gaim & some other application but I can't input chinese character in firebox browser yet. Any suggestion? Thank's again.
