How to install a Chinese input method

I have install Ubuntu 8.04,all runs well.
But I get stuck in how to install Chinese input method.
I do System - Administrator - Language Support ,but in the dialog , I cannot find where to tick up the opinion of Chinese.
why?

I doubt Chinese is not my Ubuntu system language.

可能是源没设置好。需要安装的包有：
language-pack-gnome-zh
language-pack-zh
language-support-fonts-zh
language-support-input-zh
language-support-translations-zh
language-support-zh
楼主你可以试着装一下看看。

安装完之后默认就有scim输入法

I have install them,and I set Chinese as system default language.but I reboot my machine I cannot find input method too.

pkill scim && scim -d
OK！
