我想Ubuntu的预定字体不容易地看，所以我安设了SimSun.ttf。但是安设了以后，不会看留园网　－　那个网站没有汉字，我不知道为什么。你们会不会帮助我？（在中国的人不会到：http://囗囗囗囗囗.com）我只要知道为什么，没有修理没事。

虽然宁愿回复用英文，回复用英文或者中文都可以。

I think that the default Chinese font in Ubuntu is kinda hard to read, so I installed SimSun.ttf. Afterwards, though, I wasn't able to see any characters at 囗囗囗囗囗.com - only a very few appeared. The majority of the page was blank. I've got no idea why that happened. Can anyone help me with this? (The site is http://囗囗囗囗囗.com, but I believe it's blocked by the Great Firewall of China...) I'd just like to know why, I'm not too worried about getting a fix.

Replies in either English or Chinese are both ok (Would prefer English!)

Well, I think there could be something wrong in your installing the font. Check your installation again first.

Have you set the fonts correctly in the "appearence" or the setting of firefox (or any other navigators that you're using)?

Actually there's no need to intall SimSun.ttf now. We have a lot of better choices, say installing WQY Zenhei, or Microsoft Yahei (or IYahei), or ZhunYuan, and so on. And if you're using Ubuntu 8.04, WQY Zenhei should be automatically setup for you.

As sfbi mentioned, WQY might be suitable, however, I think the default Chinese font in Ubuntu could be better for non-mainland Chinese users. So you don't need do any change on it.

I'm currently using 7.10. I think I installed the font correctly (though it causes issues if it's present in the fonts directory. It doesn't have to be mentioned in the font configuration files).

I've set the fonts in Firefox just fine. SimSun isn't even mentioned in it anymore, but it still causes issues with that one site (no others) if it's present in the fonts directory. Just a little confused.

Anyway, thanks for the help. I think it's probably best to just ignore SimSun then. There's also no way I'm going to be able to use that link, my Chinese just isn't good enough yet.

Off-topic: What's 专家分 mean? （性别、年龄、加入时间、文章、来自 all make sense to me.）

Note: WQY is one of the best shape for Chinese and easy to give a try- just a deb package~~~

文章 means the number of "entries" that you have posted, or just means "posts". the formal translation of 文章 is "article".

I currently use 256Kbps down/up with 1GB a month in Sydney...

If you're in Auckland and with a wireless network adapter, you can try it. There're free public services, although very slow.
