About PlayDeb
PlayDeb is an unofficial project with the mission to provide the latest open source and freeware games for the current Ubuntu Linux release, in an easy to install manner.
The PlayDeb repository extends the official repositories by providing latest versions and new games. Unlike the official packages, PlayDeb packages do not have a predefined release schedule - new game versions are provided as they become available from their authors.
There is a short and limited testing phase instead of a full testing cycle to ensure packaging quality, however it is less strict than Ubuntu's official requirements. You may also be interested on the UbuntuBackports project. It has a limited scope compared to PlayDeb but the advantage of being an Ubuntu official project.
There is no "company" behind this project - it is managed, maintained, developed and supported by a volunteer group and by the users themselves.
Your help is needed and appreciated.
How to Install Games from PlayDeb
Use the following instructions:
1.
Install the playdeb package.
2.
Or configure the repository manually:
Go to System-Administration-Software Sources, Third-Party Software tab, Add:
deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu karmic-getdeb games
Add the repository GPG key, open a terminal window and type:
wget -O- http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -
3.
Click the "Install this now" button below the screenshot of the desired game.
简易安装方法：
1，下载playdeb package包
2，加软件源及密钥：
deb http://archive.getdeb.net/ubuntu karmic-getdeb games
在终端输入：
wget -O- http://archive.getdeb.net/getdeb-archive.key | sudo apt-key add -
很多游戏，不用自己再下载安装包：
包括最新的nexuiz,Snowglobe - New viewer for Second Life，还有Urban Terror
很多是大型游戏，包括介绍及图片，相当好
