启禀楼主，我的系统是ubuntu7.04，显卡是ati radeon 9100第一第二种方法似乎都不合适阿！
经过对这两中方法的无数次失败，我自己下了个ati-driver-installer-8.28.8.run 尝试用第二种方法自己编译并安装，
但是在建创建deb包 时报错如下：
root@freedom-desktop:/home/freedom# sh ati-driver-installer-8.28.8.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/feisty

怎么个用第一种方法不行？自己编译，恐怕是因为这个驱动不支持新的内核，所以你还是得用源里的。

安装自带驱动，feisty自带的是8.34.8驱动，而8.34.8不支持radeon 9100的显卡。

所以你只能用开源驱动，应该不错的了。

这样吧，我把我的每一步操作步骤，结果 和xorg.conf都发上来，您看看中间有什么错误，
1，sudo apt-get update
结果：正常

进入蓝屏界面，开始选择fglrx，其他默认，
结果如下：（不知道是否正常）

6， sudo aticonfig --ovt=Xv
结果如下：（不知道是否正常）

没错。
我不是说了嘛，你的显卡只能用老的驱动，但是老驱动不支持新内核，所以你只能用开源驱动。

进不了，xwindow,于是，

到tty1中，

cd /etc/X11

cp -a xorg.conf.bank xorg.conf

重启

进入xwindow
