感谢大神的帮助，虽然英语不行，但是大致是看懂了点儿。

To upgrade on a desktop system:

Open the "Software & Updates" Setting in System Settings.
Select the 3rd Tab called "Updates".
Set the "Notify me of a new Ubuntu version" dropdown menu to "For any new version".
Press Alt+F2 and type in "update-manager -cd" (without the quotes) into the command box.
Update Manager should open up and tell you: New distribution release '18.04' is available.
If not you can also use "/usr/lib/ubuntu-release-upgrader/check-new-release-gtk"
Click Upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions.

我用了 Linux 这么久了（20+ years），还不敢使用直接升级。从 17.10 升级到 18.04 也许还可以，再以前的版本，因为相差太大，只有一面升级一面祈祷啦。

可以把 Ubuntu 18.04 装在另一个分割区里做多重开机。

如果还是怕的话，可以做一个 persistent LiveUSB。现存制作 persistent LiveUSB 的方法，在 18.04 好像不适用，有时间的话，我再把我们的方法写出来一下。（主要是知道没有人会有兴趣，写了也是白写。）

非常感谢！我按照"update-manager -cd" 把16.04升级到了17.10，果然出现了问题，到了登录界面就死机，无解。结果我重装了16.04。多亏我电脑里没重要的文件，否则后果悲催。18.04出来后我再试试。祈祷！

可能 你沒有 更改為 LTS
